HONEXT®

It started with a vision to protect the planet and a challenge of how residue from papermaking, considered useless and polluting, could be upgraded into something useful and valuable. They manufacture non-toxic, recyclable boards by upcycling industrial fibres into a healthy and sustainable building material.

The HONEXT® BOARD

HONEXT® Boards are available in two different fire reaction classifications: C-s1, d0 and B-s1, d0

The boards can be bespoke adding paint, lacquer, patterns, indents and more.

Flame Retardant

The new HONEXT® Board FR-B is Eurocalss B-s1, d0 rated, without the use of any toxic chemicals. Ideal for retail displays or acoustic panels in public spaces.

Sound Absorption

HONEXT® Boards are sound absorbent, making them the perfect addition to your office space, creating a quiet and focused environment.

Versatile

HONEXT® Boards can be used in a variety of ways, from acoustic panels, to cladding and partition walls and furniture applications, offering versatile solutions.

Properties

Materials Reimagined

For HONEXT®, doing less harm was no longer enough. With 40% of global CO2 emissions coming from construction and half being directly associated with the materials used, HONEXT® wanted to offer a circular alternative.

The paper industry downcycles the cellulose fibres until they are too poor and too short to be used again, creating primary sludge. Paper mills in Europe produce 8M tonnes per year of that sludge. Usually, the fibres are treated as waste material and are discarded to landfill. HONEXT® upcycles that primary sludge into non-toxic, circular, fibre retardant fibreboards.

For every 100m2 of HONEXT®, 720kg of cellulose waste is being saved from ending up in landfills or being burnt.

They come from waste, and aim to never become waste again. This translated in them achieving Cradle-to-Cradle Certified® Gold and Material Health Certificate TM Gold Level version 4.0 on their HONEXT® Boards.

The Pulp and Paper industry is estimated to produce more than 7 million tons of waste paper sludge yearly. HONEXT® uses that waste as their primary raw material.

HONEXT® operates on a circular model. After their first use, HONEXT® Boards can be sent back to the factory where they will be put back into the production line and manufactured into new boards.
